In my years of frugality and salvaging…i’ve never had luck with recycled packs. They just love to unbalance. It is a huge time waster imo. Cells are NOT expensive when you buy 100+ at a time and well worth it. I’m not saying salvaging can’t work, but you need some idea of the battery’s history and how many cycles have been through it.
Just did this recently for my Dewalt & Milwaukee 12volt batteries. Just the small 2/3ah batteries. Now they have the same punch as the 5/6ah batteries. Molicel P28s are on sale right now for about $2.50 a piece. 2800mah, 35a continuous. Hard to beat that. Really wakes these little tools up, and with the smallest lightest battery! M12 High Output 2.5s – I find them to be around $60. Total price for my higher output battery…about 12$. Now I’m thinking of making a 9ah (8.4) 105a CD M12 pack lol.
This is nuts but such a good idea. Are you able to get big blank shells? Like HD or red forge shells?
That’s only a 4Ah battery, not 6. Batteries connected in series do not increase capacity. They raise voltage.
