At the end of each workshop I teach I usually give the students my top ten tool list. I wish someone had been there to guide my early purchases. A lot of these tools I make myself however that has grown from students wanting the tools I use and creating the demand. Some of the tools I helped other companies design and I now offer them for sale on my site.

The only other thing I would add is a 17 degree paring chisel. The lower angle lets you pare or chop with great precision. I stumbled across an old Buck Bros cast steel 1 1/4 inch beveled edge chisel sharpened at 17 degrees. It is amazing how well you can trim and pare with it. IBC currently makes these in sets of 3.
No1s gonna buy sharpening stones before tools, be realistic. Tools usually come sharp
