Tool Brands Who Makes What Tools and Who Owns What Tool Company

Popular Tool Brands Who Makes What Tools and Who Owns What Tool Company. Many popular tool brands have made big names for themselves, are they more than just a brand? Is your favorite tool brand or product line actually a company or even more, do they actually manufacture tools or just outsource them? In this video, we will explain if your brand is a company or tool manufacture while doing a toolbox tour and putting away many of the common tools you may have around your house, work, job site or see while frequenting your favorite home improvement stores.

We may go a little deeper on some Brands and Companies or all if they are all three with some back history on buyouts or mergers. Many things can happen from year to year and a company can change hands during acquisitions, mergers, spin-offs, or worse move all manufacturing overseas or completely close all operations like Shop-Vac did this year in 2020.
This information was current and up to date when it was published to the best of my knowledge on November 3rd, 2020.

Please note that this video is not a full list of tool brands and tool companies, but rather what I can recall and have available. It is a pretty high level and I have not researched Security and Company filings or quarter/yearly tax reports. This highlights tool brands for construction, industrial, DIY use with a focus mainly on hand tools and some power tool brand makers.

To help you sort things out the following list may help identify the most popular tool brands I mention in the video. The companies that own or are affiliated with them and if they are a brand, company, or a tool manufacturer. The line can be kind of blurry with acquisitions and buyouts as the actual manufacturing begins to be consolidated or support multiple different brands and product lines.

  1. "Are you, or someone you love addicted to buying tools? Do you have multiples of the exact same items, but in differing brands? You’re not alone and there’s help for you. Please call my house and I’ll give you the address to drop off the excess"…

  2. I have some Genius tools including metric 3/8 socket sets, torx, and hex bits sockets. Have used them day to day in a dealership environment, and have been just as good as SK, Snap On, Mac if not better considering the cost. I bealive they are taiwan made? Couldnt find much info. I also have been using TechPro chinese made tools also really good for the price.

  3. In my shop I try to make sure I have 2 of every size combination wrench. Thats for those time you need 2 open end wrenches at the same time to loosen something.

  4. How do you get stuff done when you stand in front of your tool collection and agonise all day long about what wrench to use?

  5. A while back, I bought a set of tools off the Mac truck. It was Another brand he was selling. The name of the brand is professional. Any idea if professional brand is still sold off the Mac truck?

  6. I have a question. My boyfriend told me of a line of tools he likes and all I remember about it is that wherever you see a guy on the tool that is to let you know not to use that part to hit it there. Can anyone tell me what those are called please

  7. TEQ is a brand at Advance Auto Parts, they use to carry Gearwrench, they still have a few Gearwrench products like socket sets that I got for a very good deal, but now they have their own brand of tools which is TEQ

  8. You didn’t even touch the tip of the iceburg on portable power. Otherwise, nice random selections of tidbits pertaining to just your own personal collection.

  9. Harbor Freight Doyles are hit and miss, be careful buying them. Not sure what is going on with the quality control there but some of them are built bad, but the good ones are very nice though. I bought 2 adjustable wrenchs a 10 and a 12, and both had issues. The 12 inch wouldnt adjust all the way to the end and the 10 inch adjuster would jam up. Went back to HF, got replacements and they are very nice.

Edit: also shake em up a bit to see how much play they have, the bad ones has alot of play

  10. Ridgid Tools are NOT made by Ridgid Plumbing Tools own by Emerson Elect. Ridgid Power Tools are made by EAG in Europe , owns by TTI who also owns Milwaukee,

  11. In general you were correct about company vs brand vs manufacturer. However many brands and companies use different mfrs. Channelocks doesn’t make ratchets or adjustable wrenches like you said. Western Forge made pliers, screw drivers, files etc. for Husky, Craftsman and others. Estwing makes hammers but not the chisels they sell. Good job overall and enjoying the videos.

  12. Oh HI, very nice description on tools. However 1 of the companies is spelled and pronounced Chervon , not CHEVRON. NICE COLLECTION OF TOOLS !

  13. Whether it’s a company, brand or manufacturer it’s all Asian because any profitable venture in this space knows the supply chains start in Asia. However a tools gets into American stores is the work of your fellow American salesperson. So we are utterly eating our words whenever we compare Chinese stuff to American stuff. The names of things whether it’s a brand, company or manufacturer is just a smoke and mirrors trick to get us to hoard more shit we don’t need.

  14. Hart actually used to manufacture some of the best hammers
Ryobi is a bigger manufacturer than one may know (of machinery)
    Forgot about Cornwell & OTC(BOSCH)
As far as scan tools, all of the Chinese brands are the same…Really
    The list could go on and on;
    Great video, keep them coming

  15. Crazy to see all the re-branded stuff made by only a few manufacturers. And many suckers out there buy the more expensive stuff just because the packaging or the final polish of the tool looks better.

  16. I bought Napa brand ratchet in a pinch and the handle came off the first time I used it and had to epoxy it back on to get the job done. Handle doesn’t go to the end of the handle. It flexes if you actually use the end of the handle. It only goes about half into the handle. So this tool actually cost me money to use.

  17. If you want to get technical Stanley Works moved off-shore to evade US taxes but may have moved back after Trump.

  18. Dude Craftsman were made for Sears "Craftsman" by Stanley Works, so Stanley just bought the brand they had been making all along. Now for the quality…………
